Case Interview

The case interview is the key tool in our recruiting process, enabling us to identify the highest potential future consultants. You will complete case interviews in both rounds of the interview process and every interview will broadly follow the same structure.

The first part of the interview is a discussion around your personal achievements, based on what you have described in your CV and covering letter. This allows your interviewer to find out a little more about you and is your opportunity to demonstrate the personal qualities that we look for in our consultants.

The second part of the interview is the ‘case interview’. In this part of the interview you will discuss a business problem with your interviewer. This is typically a recent project that they have been working on. Your interviewer wants to see how you approach the problem. You are not expected to have detailed business knowledge but you need to demonstrate that you can think in a logical and structured way. This part of the interview will also give you some real insight into the challenging and interesting work that we do.

The final part of the interview is your chance to ask questions about working at BCG or your interviewer’s personal experience. It is an opportunity for you to get to learn more about our people and our culture. Come prepared with the questions that matter to you, and we will make every effort to answer them.

We aim to make every interview enjoyable as well as challenging, and give you the best possible opportunity to demonstrate your skills and attributes. In our eyes the more prepared you are for cases the more confident you will feel.  Therefore we would recommend that you look at some of our interactive case studies.
