Not sure what consulting is all about? The Summer Associate Internship programme is a great opportunity to work for a period of 8 weeks in your penultimate year of university. This gives you a chance to experience first hand the type of work we do and learn more about the industries in which we operate.
What will I do on the internship programme?
As a Summer Associate, you would be staffed as a full-time member on a case team. The types of project may vary – it could be anything from developing a long-term strategy for a major European energy player to working with a global charity to maximise the utility they can get from their limited resources. Your role on the team might include activities such as client interviews, market research and analysis, hypothesis generation and testing – all of which may be essential to helping the team achieve case objectives.
But wait! The internship programme is not all about work – we also put together a great calendar of events so that you get a chance to meet BCG staff at all levels of the organisation. Past events have included dinners, stage shows, a karaoke night, and even a trip abroad to meet other BCG interns from across Europe.
What will I learn?
As an intern, you will learn many key consulting skills during the 8 weeks you are here. You will start your internship with 3 full days of formal induction, followed by the opportunity to register for the weekly training offerings alongside full-time staff. In addition, when you join, you will be assigned a “buddy” who will be there to answer any questions you have and introduce you to people in the office.
Beyond the formal training programme, BCG’s apprenticeship model offers the chance to learn applicable skills and approaches for the consulting environment. You will receive lots of on-the-job coaching and training from senior BCG members of your case team. In fact, feedback has shown that in past years, interns have really valued the on-the-job training received from their Principals and Project Leaders.
