Meet BCG MBAs

Yael
I was looking for a job where my personal commitments would be respected and my professional development would be a core value.
Yael
Consultant, London
A Personal Story
After a career as a corporate lawyer, I joined BCG because I was looking for a challenging and stimulating working environment and the opportunity to work closely with a diverse group of intellectually curious colleagues on a wide breadth of projects. Moreover, as a ‘career-switcher’ and as a mother, I was looking for a job where my personal commitments would be respected and my professional development would be considered a core value - BCG was exactly the right match for my specific needs.
Background
Yael holds a Bachelor of Law from the Hebrew University School of Law, a Masters from Columbia Law School and an MBA from INSEAD. Yael spent time working within the legal sector before joining BCG in 2008 as a Consultant after her MBA.
Tim
There wasn't a market in the world where we couldn't get a BCG expert on the phone
Tim
Partner & Managing Director, London
A Personal Story
Helping one of our UK financial institution clients develop and execute their international growth strategy has been one of the most challenging cases I've worked on . The question was simple - where should they invest in order to grow their business over the next five years? All options were available - from acquisition in rapidly developing markets through to organic growth in profitable niches at home. We worked with their senior management and the board to identify and prioritise attractive moves and establish a coherent and compelling long-term growth path. It really brought home to me the value of the global BCG network - there wasn't a market in the world where we couldn't get a BCG expert on the phone to give the client an on-the-ground view of the opportunities and the challenges.
Background
Tim holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from University of Oxford and an MBA from Stanford Business School. Tim joined BCG as a Consultant in 2001 following previous work within the strategy consulting field.
Karl
I stayed because of the extraordinary impact that a small team of BCG consultants can have on a company.
Karl
Alumna, London
A Personal Story
I joined BCG after completing my MBA, prior to which my background was in Mergers & Acquisitions at Shell. The reason? To broaden my experience by working across a range of industries outside of energy. On this, BCG delivered. However, I stayed for two quite different reasons: First because of the extraordinary impact that a small team of BCG consultants working collaboratively with clients can have on a company; and second because of the extraordinary efforts which BCG people put into developing each other.
Background
Karl holds a degree in Physics from University of Oxford and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Karl joined BCG in 2003. He worked previously for Shell International.
Elliot
It's the people that really make the difference at BCG. The people and the clients. Oh, and the projects too!
Elliot
Principal, London
A Personal Story

Before earning my MBA at London Business School, I spent several years as a lobbyist working with a wide range of companies. I definitely wasn’t ready to narrow my focus to just one or two industries after I graduated. In 3 years, I’ve worked in 6 different industries: Media, Health, Energy, Financial Services, Mining, Retail, Consumer Goods, with teams from across Europe and discovered BCG is a place where I can build a career that’s both entrepreneurial and fulfilling.

When sitting with any BCG team around the world, you can be certain that you’ll be with smart people who are committed to making an impact with their clients and that – despite the diversity of the individuals – they do all share a common set of values. But it goes beyond just calibre of the people. The clients we work with are second-to-none and the work we do with them is on deep strategic issues that have major impact.

Background

Elliot joined BCG in 2005 from London Business School, where he received his MBA with distinction. He also holds a BA in literature from Clare College, Cambridge. Before BCG, Elliot worked as a public affairs consultant in a Westminster lobbying firm. For the past six years, he has served as director of a London-based charity.
