Jon
Principal, London
A Personal Story
People development is clearly one of the highest priorities at BCG and formal training is an important part of this. We have tailored programmes for each career step, which have been designed to provide training in all the skills required to be an effective consultant. This training can be at the local office, regional or worldwide level and we use a combination of experienced BCG managers and expert external trainers to deliver them. In addition we offer a huge variety of optional training sessions on specific industries or topics prepared by our leading experts in each field. In any discussion of learning opportunities at BCG should also mention the apprenticeship model, which remains at the heart of how our people learn. We have one of the lowest manager-to-consultant ratios of any firm, and we believe that this really accelerates our people's development.

A Personal Story

I joined BCG as an Associate directly from university because I was hungry for a career that would enable me to have an impact and develop personally. BCG offers tremendous opportunities for a university graduate to work in partnership with the world’s biggest firms on their toughest strategic challenges, to learn from their leaders, and to help shape their future direction.

Each project requires me to apply my intellect, creativity, and energy to learning about a new industry, collaborating with a new set of people, and solving a new problem. As an Associate, I am responsible for leading my own module and developing my own ideas and client relationships whilst being supported by the coaching of my project leader and by BCG’s world class training program.

Emilia
The range and number of training events available to BCG staff is really impressive.
Emilia
Principal, Chicago
A Personal Story

At BCG, I’ve had the fortune to participate in a number of training opportunities on a variety of topics. The range and number of events available to BCG staff is really impressive, but what I like most is the freedom to choose on the basis of personal needs and interests. It’s also been great to see how committed the leaders of BCG are toward continuous education. Most of the training is based on client work, which provides access to some of the greatest minds in BCG.

That being said, I’ve learned the most through close interaction with BCG teams, and clients. The collaborative culture within BCG teams and with clients fosters a great sense of ownership and accountability that motivates one to push thinking to the limit.

Rocio
BCG is a truly global firm formed by professionals who share the same values and strive to make a genuine difference.
Rocio
Project Leader, Madrid
A Personal Story

I am a Spanish national and joined BCG in the Kuala Lumpur office after moving there with my family. From my first days at the firm, I could see that BCG’s collaborative culture was unique. For example, I noted that all consultants, ranging from junior associates to senior partners, were encouraged to exchange ideas openly both in project and office meetings.

At BCG, I have welcomed the opportunity to work in a variety of industries (telecommunications, consumer electronics, consumer goods, transport, and media), functional areas (strategy, marketing and sales, operations, organization), and locations (Europe, Asia). Having worked in different parts of the world, I can tell that BCG is a truly global firm formed by professionals who share the same values and strive to make a genuine difference.

BCG encourages international exposure, and there are ample opportunities to learn and meet with colleagues from across the world during cohort and practice-area training. At a local level, great effort is also put into sharing knowledge and experiences and getting to know each other at training and social events. I have been able to shape my career based on my interests and strengths, and to have as much variety in my work as I like. All this adds up to an ideal platform for continuous learning.
